Dear Parents,

Welcome to another great school year. I am very excited and am looking forward to working with your child to make this school year as successful as can be.

Success of each child is extremely dependent on communication between home and school. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. You can choose to send a note in with your child or make a phone call. I can be reached at 896-2322 ext. 121.

Each night, as you have noticed, a white homework notebook is brought home. Homework is to be completed each night, Monday through Thursday. This contains the nightly homework assignment, consisting of 1-2 pages, a good worker chart that rewards the child for homework completion and all of their corrected homework.

Reading is such an important part of learning and this can take place both at school and at home. Beginning October 1^st each student will also have a reading log that will go in their homework folder. This is going to be used to track how much they read each night. This can be done in conjunction with Read at Home. I would like to see that they are reading each night and building their skills. If you have read all of your books at home and they would like to borrow one from the classroom, please just include a note in their homework notebook and I will be happy to send one home with them.
