In preparation for author Suzy Kline’s visit a Suzy Kline Family Night was held on March 6th.  Students read and discussed some Suzy Kline books and teachers and parents performed a Reader’s Theatre presentation of

one of Ms. Kline’s books.  In library, story times have been devoted to Suzy Kline favorites like the Horrible Harry series and Marvin Higgins.  Suzy’s visit to Crystal Lake School included two presentations and a theatre workshop with Mr. Murphy starring as

Herbie Jones.  Mrs. Kline was a wonderful guest author, the children and staff loved her.  Thank you to PTO for their generous support of her visit.

With the coming of spring we start to think about baseball, warmer days and believe it or not planning for the 2008-2009 school year.  A large and very important part of this planning is the development of class lists for next year.  This process will involve classroom teachers, special educators, the math recovery teacher, the language arts consultant and myself.  We realize of course that a very important part of the conversation is your input as your child’s first and most important teacher.  At the back of this newsletter you will find a form that I invite you to fill out and return to me so that you can

share any information that you feel would be important for us to consider when making placements.  Requests for specific teachers will not be considered.

While the task of developing class lists is of utmost importance to us, the safety and well-being of our students is of course our number one concern.  To that end I would like to remind parents that it is unlawful to pass a school bus while its red lights are flashing and stop sign is extended.  Please use extreme caution when picking up or dropping off students at school.

Each month this

newsletter is posted on our school’s website and if you’ve visited our website recently, you may have noticed some changes.  You’ll find the same information from the previous page along with some new information.  To find classroom pages on the left side of the page click on “Staff” then choose the grade level or subject you are looking for.  Check it out at http://www.ellingtonpublicschools.org/CLS/.  And we thank our library/media specialist Ms. Lisa Garofalo for all of her work in keeping our website up to date and user friendly.  We hope that you find it informative.
