A Day at the Metropolitan Opera!

On Thursday, October 4th, EHS students and teachers watched and listened with high anticipation and excitement for the opening of the Puccini masterpiece opera, Madame Butterfly.

We are sincerely thankful to Mr. Ciccarella and Mrs. St. John for joining us on this very special trip to NYC, and also for their enthusiasm and support for music education.

All of our students represented their school and town with the utmost class and respect and Mr. Durfee is very proud to be working with such an awesome group of young musicians.

UMass MulitBand Pops

On Friday, October 19th, the EHS Music students will attend a concert at the Fine Arts Center at UMass Amherst. Performing ensembles include, trumpet/brass fanfares, marimba ensemble, vocal jazz ensemble, symphony band/wind ensemble, jazz ensemble I, and the 350-member marching band.

The performance begins at 8pm, and the buses will be leaving at 5:30pm from Ellington High School. We will be returning at 11:30pm.

The sign-up sheet is now up in the band room.

Tickets for students are $12.

EHS Music Department at Four Town Fair!

A total amount of $1,974 dollars was made at the EHS Music Department Cake Booth this past weekend in Somers, CT! A big thank you to all who helped especially the parents and faculty of EHS who donated their time to chaperone.

Band wins Best Musical Ensemble!

A number of band students, some awesome band parents, and an exhausted Mr. Durfee were present to recieve the trophy for Best Musical Ensemble on Saturday night at the Fireman's Fair!

A HUGE thank you to all the parents who helped during the parade, and a warm and sincere congratulations to the EHS Marching Knight Band!

Placement Auditions for Concert Band

Auditions for chair placement in concert band will begin on Monday, September 17th. Students will be required to know the concert Bb, Eb, and Ab scales, and they should prepare a short excerpt of any piece of their choice to play for the director. There will be a easy-medium sight-reading excerpt also.

Fireman's Fair Parade

Band students should be dropped off at Ellington Automotive, IN uniforum with their instruments on Saturday September 8th @ 4:15pm!

The parade steps off at 5pm and will go down route 140 to Brookside Park at the Fireman's Fair. Students should arrange to be picked up there
