A Message From Mr. Mitchell - EHS Interim Principal

Good Afternoon Students and Families,

I want to start by recognizing and thanking our incredible teaching staff here at Ellington High School. While today marks the end of Teacher Appreciation Week, it is never too late to let a teacher know how impactful they have been on your life!

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, OKP is performing Mamma Mia at 7:30 tonight and tomorrow at 2:00 in the auditorium! Come see a great show and support our amazing theater program!

In addition to the excitement in the auditorium, many of our students have been hard at work in the testing rooms this week. Advanced Placement (AP) exams are in full swing, and I want to take a moment to acknowledge the dedication and late-night study sessions our students have put in to prepare. We are incredibly proud of your grit and academic focus. To those still testing next week: stay hydrated, get plenty of rest, and remember that you’ve already done the work - you got this!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

Take care and enjoy your weekend,
Jon Mitchell
EHS Interim Principal

EHS Students Attend CT State Latin and Greek Day

On Thursday, April 30, Connecticut State Latin and Greek Day was held at Holiday Hill in Cheshire. Latin teacher Ms. White, chaperone Ms. Sobolewski and 16 EHS Latin students attended, along with over 1,000 other Classics students from dozens of middle and high schools throughout the state. Students enjoyed hands-on workshops in which they made such things as laurel wreaths, mosaics, and frescoes. They attended presentations by experts on topics including ancient astronomy, Roman legion military reenactment, and Classics in College. Honors Latin IV students built, painted, and pulled the EHS chariot to a second place win in the boys’ first chariot race heat, and Ellington’s military standard made by Inaya Khan and Ceilidh Cuthbert won second place. Although the weather could have been better, it was a great day for the EHS Fortes Equites (Brave Knights).
