Dear Center School Families,
I wanted to share a little about some exciting professional learning our staff has recently engaged in. As a school community, we are continually looking for ways to strengthen our teaching and create the best possible learning experiences for our students.
Recently, our staff spent time learning about the different types of feedback we provide to students and the powerful impact feedback can have on learning. We explored how feedback can be verbal, written, and even non-verbal, and how each type can influence a student's thinking, confidence, motivation, and willingness to continue working through challenges.
One of our goals is to make sure that the feedback students receive is intentional, specific, timely, and focused on their learning and growth. Rather than simply telling students whether an answer is right or wrong, we are working to provide feedback that helps students understand what they are doing well, where they can improve, and what their next steps might be.
We also discussed the importance of how we deliver feedback. A teacher's words, tone, facial expressions, gestures, and body language can all communicate messages to students.
We want every interaction with our students to reinforce the belief that learning is a process and that mistakes and challenges are important parts of that process.
Speaking of feedback, please do not hesitate to reach out to provide any feedback you may have to help us grow as a school.
I hope you have an excellent weekend!
Michael
