Dear Center School Families,
As part of our commitment to helping every student grow as a learner, our staff is spending time this school year examining the tasks and learning experiences we provide for students.
We are asking ourselves important questions: Are our tasks encouraging students to think deeply? Do they require students to explain their thinking, make connections, and apply what they have learned? Most importantly, are we providing opportunities for students to experience productive struggle, persevere through challenges, and develop the determination to keep going when something feels difficult?
We believe that learning is about more than simply getting the right answer. It is also about developing the confidence and stamina to approach challenging problems, learn from mistakes, try different strategies, and persist when the solution is not immediately clear.
Our teachers are beginning to examine the work we ask students to do and looking for ways to increase opportunities for critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, perseverance, and independence.
We are looking to intentionally design tasks that stretch students' thinking while providing the support they need to be successful.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to provide our students with meaningful opportunities to learn, think, and grow.
Have a great weekend!
Michael
